Premium Sourcing Showcase
Cocoa Beans
Also called cacao bean, cocoa, or simply cacao. It is the dried and fully fermented seed of Theobroma cacao, from which cocoa solids (a mixture of nonfat substances) and cocoa butter (the fat) can be extracted.
Cocoa Liquor
It is a paste produced from ground cocoa nibs. It is cooled and molded into blocks known as unsweetened baking chocolate (bitter chocolate).
Cocoa Butter
Also called theobroma oil, is a pale-yellow, edible fat extracted from the cocoa bean. It is used to make chocolate, as well as some ointments, toiletries, and pharmaceuticals.
Cocoa Powder
It is a dry powder made by extracting cocoa butter from cocoa liquor, which leaves behind the dry solids. Used to give foods a chocolate flavor.
